Assessing Digital Learning
Action research is primarily composed of four parts: planning, acting, developing, and reflection. Throughout the course of the ADL program I have been delving into current research surrounding project-based and blended learning
Action Research Documents
Action Research Outline
Action research must be focused from the very beginning in order to prevent confusion or ambiguity in results from an excessive amount of data collected and analyzed. By completing an outline focus remains clear and concise on the overall goal.
Action Research: Literature Review
In order to avoid redundancy in research, it is important to review the current literature surrounding your ideas and understand what your place within that body of literature will be.
Action Research Plan: Measurement Strategy
Before beginning data collection, the study must be planned out in detail. The focus of the study must be clear, but a clear understanding of the timeline is important as well. Careful consideration of the time available in the study will help keep data collection at each step organized and well thought out without having to rush or throw things together at the last minute.
Action Research Project-based Blended Learning
Based on my review of the current literature about project based and blended learning I know that this is the best option to increase student engagement and subsequently boost their academic and personal growth. There are many benefits of project-based learning when it is done correctly and proper facilitation and guidance is given to students, however, with so many students and an ever increasing amount of other daily responsibilities it is just not possible to accomplish this.
That is where the blended learning units I have been developing kicks in. By utilizing digital learning activities some of my time is freed up to allow me to facilitate small group interventions, one-on-one conversations, and even individualize learning for each student. By allowing students the opportunity to connect the content to their own interests and demonstrate their mastery in any way that suits them best, engagement will increase and students will grow at a much faster rate not only academically, but also personally while they codevelop skills such as creative problem solving, collaboration, critical thinking, and even digital literacy. By using these blended learning units I will be able to build skills and knowledge that will be desperately needed in the digital age we are in and will continue into the future.
